COMMON QUESTIONS
DO I NEED VETERINARY CLEARANCE?
Yes. Veterinary clearance is required before beginning a program. This helps ensure your horse is an appropriate candidate for conditioning and allows me to work alongside your existing veterinary care when needed.
DO I NEED TO BE THERE FOR EVERY SESSION?
For Coaching- yes. The point is for you to learn how to carry out your horse's program.
For Assisted visits- no. I carry out the planned work for you. Please ensure that your horse is easily accessible and, if boarding, that your barn is aware of plans ahead of time and has granted permission.
DO YOU RIDE MY HORSE?
No. All Four Legs Fitness work is performed from the ground. Depending on your horse and their plan, sessions may include in-hand work, pole patterns, long-lining, lunging, hills, and raised platforms. As your horse progresses, specific ridden exercises may be integrated into the program and carried out by the horse's regular rider.
IS THIS REHABILITATION OR PHYSICAL THERAPY?
No. Four Legs Fitness provides functional movement and conditioning services, not veterinary diagnosis or medical treatment. If your horse is recovering from an injury or has an active medical concern, we'll work within your veterinarian's recommendations.
WHAT KIND OF HORSES DO YOU WORK WITH?
I work with young horses, mature horses, performance horses, horses returning to work, retirees, and everything in between. Programs are built around the individual horse, not their age, discipline, or job.
HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?
Session length varies based on the horse, the work planned, and how they respond that day. Sessions are goal-based rather than time-based.
WHAT IF I'M OUTSIDE YOUR SERVICE AREA?
Standard mobile service is available within 30 minutes of South Glens Falls, NY. Outside that area? Reach out- additional travel may be available for a fee.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER AN ASSESSMENT?
You'll receive an individualized plan based on what we find and your goals. From there, we'll choose the level of support that makes sense for you and your horse; whether that's Coaching, Assisted visits, or a combination of the two.
MY HORSE ISN'T COMING BACK FROM INJURY, CAN THEY STILL BENEFIT?
Absolutely. Four Legs Fitness isn't only for horses coming back from injury or dealing with an obvious problem. Conditioning can be used proactively to build strength, improve movement quality, address compensation patterns, and better prepare a horse for the demands of their job.
Our programs also benefit retirees, pasture puffs, and seniors to help them stay comfortable and capable of natural movement.
